“I was born in Gunnedah, NSW and moved to Toowoomba in 1984 with my small family. After being employed in Toowoomba in a number of advocacy positions to support young people (Mission Australia) and the multicultural community (Toowoomba City Council), I wanted to focus more attention on my own indigenous community. I needed to find something which would enable me to support myself as well as the indigenous community and our culture. In 2005,I established ‘Artdigenous’, and it is more of a privately run community development venture rather than a business.”
“My interests revolve around all aspects of indigenous culture including promoting cultural heritage through the Arts. I use art to explain indigenous peoples' connection to land while promoting sustainable economic development within natural resource management constraints. In this way I can uphold what is important to indigenous people, caring for country, and I believe we can do this by providing learning opportunities between indigenous and non-indigenous peoples. ” |
