About Us

Artdigenous was established by indigenous artist Donna Moodie (Kamillaroi) to provide community spaces for local indigenous and non-indigenous people and artists to build relationships, learn about, and share their passion for the natural environment and indigenous culture and history.

“I was born in Gunnedah, NSW and moved to Toowoomba in 1984 with my small family.  After being employed in Toowoomba in a number of advocacy positions to support young people (Mission Australia) and the multicultural community (Toowoomba City Council), I wanted to focus more attention on my own indigenous community.  I needed to find something which would enable me to support myself as well as the indigenous community and our culture.  In 2005,I established ‘Artdigenous’, and it is more of a privately run community development venture rather than a business.”

“My interests revolve around all aspects of indigenous culture including promoting cultural heritage through the Arts. I use art to explain indigenous peoples' connection to land while promoting sustainable economic development within natural resource management constraints.  In this way I can uphold what is important to indigenous people, caring for country, and I believe we can do this by providing learning opportunities between indigenous and non-indigenous peoples. ”

Donna features in a recent publication titled "Women in Natural Resource Management".
