A land which is old beyond reckoning. Vast, flat, and to the casual visitor desolate. But the outback abounds with life for the animals who have adapted to it over millions of years. The aborigines lived on what it has to offer for 50,000 years or more, and now the modern cattlemen adapt their lives and stations to what the land offers. Distances are vast, scores of miles to the front gate, more to the nearest neighbour. Water is scarce, and temperatures are high so a mistake in this country often means death. With common sense and a little care when travelling the beauty this country offers is well worth the effort.
